Discernment Research Project Ideas
My Brainstorm for the discenment research project is to have club I'm between two categories music and psychology. I have not chosen yet but i will post both ideas for the club and my example for the project. For music I was considering creating a acapella coed glee club for aspiring singers and dancer. I chose this club because at ndnu there are not many opportunities for people in music and arts. My example for psychology was a Brain Club for all the people aspiring to be a major in Psychology. There would be alot of community involvement and we would find internships as wells as visit and observe some practices. To complete this project by senior year i would have to do alot of reseach on the two topics and how to be involved in these projects. Overall I want to make a club that can help both music and psychology i might even blend the two but i would love to help people and help lead the way to success.
Animate Earth Chapter 11- In Service to Gaia
Nature Matters is about how we destroy nature and it will eventually lead to the destruction of our civilization. Rolling the Great Round Earth talks about how beautiful nature is and its major importance in our ecosystem. The trouble with growth talks about how hard it can be to clean up the mess weve made and fix our mistakes with destroying nature, because we have caused many plants and animals to go extinct. Steady-State Economics is about sustainable development and the amount of matter flowing through the global economy. Deep Ecology is about changing our world and technology to be in favor of Gaia and help her to become new again. There is platform called The Ecosophical Tree, it points out that trees give us nutrition for life and is a major giver of oxygen which we need to sustain life. We need to start fixing the earth now before it turns into a crisis and its too late to turn back. Overall we need to get all people to contribute to take action and have a "fruitful relationship with Gaia, our Animate Earth".
Animate Earth Chapter 10- Gaia and Biodiversity
Gaia and Biodiversity talks about the different life forms on earth and how they contribute to give us element we need to survive. It talks about extinction as well and how fast everything can be taken away if we do not take proper care of the earth. It explains our complex system in accordance with the climate, global processes, and biogeochemicals. It also talks about different species of animals that contribute to our core needs. Especially in the forest there are many animals that can help you live and help the plants thrive there. In vanishing species we learn how many animals have gone extinct due to human flaws and simple mistakes. In Biodiversity and Ecological Stability we learn about the major feedback that influences human enterprise to corrupt the forest and can tear apart the forest it damages from the inside out. Lastly we are warned that if we do not stop this process we will slowly go extinct as well so we must take better care of our earth and animals to ensure our survival.

Animate Earth Chapter 9- Desperate Earth
Gaia in her Natural State explains how humans can never know all the answers about Gaia there will always be something unknown. Also it talks about Gaias diversity of speech, chemicals, and transitions. Gaia and the Western World is about how humans change the climate and contribute to the heat that keeps growing hotter every year. There are many concerns surrounding earth and of course the ongoing rumors of global warning coming true. Species on the Move is based on the evidence of the climate changes also the worlds biotic communities. It also gives an example of the Amazon and how it doesnt look as promising as expected eiither.  Hurricanes and Global Dimming talks about the negative feedbacks of the warnings earth gives us. Overall Earth will continue to become more and more desperate as time goes on and we ignore it humans must help and care for Gaia in order to save Earth.
Animate Earth Chapter 8- The Forgotten Kingdom
Labyrinths underfoot is about the soil, trees, seasons changing, plants and especially ourselves. Fungal lives is about fungus and bacteria in plants and a seedling found in oaks called hypha. Brains in the soil explains how fungi works and functions, it is very intelligent and has a good sense of things. Fungi and the carbon cycle speaks of the trees and thier size as well as thier importance in global disasters and thier huge absorptive capacities. Fungal parasites and predators is about the age of rocks, and how they enhance our biodiversity. Back to lichens is about fungi on rocks and thier job in our world and how they can be both good and bad. It also explains lichens chemical effect on weather, and thier dissolving activities. Overall we as humans are the exact essence of animate earth.

Animate Earth Chapter 7- From Microbes to Cell Giants
Bacterias Rule the World talks about the types of bacterias that bring disease to humans. This chapter also speaks on behalf of the planet and its energy, recycling and decomposing methods. Bacteria also produces cell membranes into fibers in its surroundings which can cause items  that interfere to deteriorate. We also learn about a specific bacteria called Vibrio fischeri, it lives in the sea and can create colonies. Most bacteria is found in the ocean and are dangerous/poisonous to human beings. Bacterial Mergers on the other hand deals with the rise of oxygen that causes change in both the world of bacteria and earth. It causes things like climate by sun, volcanoes, and talks about oxygen as the beginning and ending of life. This gas causes very high reactions, it surrounds the outer orbit of electrons. Lastly it talks about how the plants remove carbon dioxide from our world through a process called  photosynthesis. Overall our planet lives off of oxygen and bacteria and it helps the plants live and the plants help sustain life in our universe.

Animate Earth Chapter 6- Life, Clouds, and Gaia
In this chapter we learn about different aspects of the earth for example Sulphur and Albedo. It also explains how dangerous gaseous chemical beings are when they affect our universe. Another topic that this chapter dives into is the inside of a coccolithophore cell this lives in the waters on the oceans surface. DMS producing algae are some small bacterias that can make foams and slimes that make it easy to be airborne. This helps the algae survive both the salt and freezing temperature in the ocean. Next is the Biomes and Climate and their ecological communities and how they impact the worlds climate. It also talks about Gaia's physiology and the way they can dramatically and unexpectedly change. Overall we learn about different chemicals that inhabit a few places around our planet and their effects on our world.

Animate Earth Chapter 5- Carbon Journeys
In this chapter we learn about the ways carbon travels throughout the universe and the different jobs it completes. It also talks about Emiliania which is a type of algae one of the many different types is coccolithophores which means "carriers of little stoneberries." This is one of the many types of cabon journeys that are important to life on earth.  We also learn about Calcium Bicarbonaate and the way it trasmits to help the elements. "Life and land is a great rock-crushing, and rock-dissolving" being that contains many products. Volcanoes, hot springs, and earthquakes are some great dangers that cause tectonic activity and cause alot of damage. It also looks on the other side about cold damage like in Antartica and Alaska. In the end in our contemporary society it is like we are having war with nature  and we cause the climate change and natural disasters, the world will take care of us but first we need to start taking better care of our world.
Animate Earth Chapter 4- Life and the Elements
In this chapter we learn about elements in the universe that help tells us about how to live our life contentlly and free of harm. It also talks about atoms as beings, and how they can affect us humans as beings on earth. It also talks about another type of philosophical topic it is called panpsychism this is the idea that matter is sentient. A main few of the Gaia's Elements are: carbon, carbon dioxide, oxygen, and hydrogen. It also explains Phosphorus which means light bearing and it in the language of Greece better known as Greek. Phosphorus releases energy, stores it, and its energy is derived from the sun, which is the power of light. Also we learn that every person will behave in exactly the same way, this is because when it comes to danger, we all have the same response. Finally we learn in the end that the next step for Gaia  to journey on to is the apperance of life.

Animate Earth Chapter 3- From Gaia Hypothesis to Gaia Theory
This chapter moves from a simple hypothesis to a real theory to be tested and experimented on to get results on Gaia. Living beings must adapt to the enviormental conditions to be able to survive and live off earthly goods. Scientist cant object Gaia they need to find rational arguments to call it a bad science. There are usually small impacts or changes in sea level or tempurature usually simple changes. There are many scientific opinions divided by causes of mass extinction. It is very possible to generate complex systems that give both positive and negative feedback. There are old and exceeding changes that the world goes through, though some things are better left unsaid.  Overall there is alot of potential for many changes in the universe over time and we are constanly adapting to new enviorments.

Animate Earth Chapter 2- Encountering Gaia
This chapter talks about how we relate to the Ancient Greeks and how they helped set up our society. We know Gaia is a living presence buried under sediments in the west that is a dualistic science. Something is right when it tends to preserve the integrity of stability and beauty of a biotic community. Humans are living brings with profound intuitions and ethical guide lines about how we should live and act in our daily lives. Modern science is rooted in the soil of our direct sensorial experience. Gaian approaches allow humans to develop a sense of how the local connects and contributes in multifarious surprising and normally significant ways to life at global levels. Overall we experience the whole of life and we realize that we are inseparable beings in one big planet.

Animate Earth Chapter 1-Anima Mundi
This chapter talks about how our world is in crisis because we don't take care of it the way we should. There are many things we can do to help the earth recover and Rushbeds Wood is a ecology that is a integrated living intelligence. There are not many natural places for exploration because we are destroying the world with our modern sceneries. There is also a animalistic perception in humans that we should get in touch with to better ourselves and the world. Animisms are everywhere possibly in ourselves they revolve around crops and land. The Scientific Revolution and Holistic Science give us insight into the earth and how to help it. The world is made of millions of elements necessary to survive here. To help ourselves help the earth we must get intact with our Intuition, Feelings,Sensing and Thinking. We must attempt to understand the earth and living beings that inhabit it, we and the earth are feelingful beings. Earth is animate-alive, sensitive, sentient and we must rediscover Gaia this is the Earth personified.

Journey of the Universe Chapter 11- Emerging Earth Community
Our path is uncertain because humans have a sense of larger purpose and our destiny is clouded. As people on earth we are always searching for some kind of ongoing guidance in our lives. Wonder is not only an emotion it also is a huge opening into the main heart of our universe and its surroundings. The oceans too guide us on our journey involving the past the present and future it helps us discover ourselves as people and can dissolve things into itself. Our human destiny is to  become the heart of the universe, and to embrace the whole of the Earth's community. Life is an adventure and this means both chaos and control. The nature of the universe is to keep moving forward, and our vibrant communities constitute the universe and creates a more diverse world.
Journey of the Universe Chapter 10- Rethinking Matter and Time
From the beginning of modern science as humans we tried to comprehend and discover knowledge to make a better universe. There is a simple way to understand the creative self-organizing dynamism of matter. It is to take the perspective of the universe and the earths evolution over time. We must commit ourselves to the control of the natural world and  try our best to help the Earth's ecosystem. There are traditional and organic senses of time it ties to the cycles of nature this was broken in the beginning of our modern era. Our systems of housing, transportation agriculture, and commerce are intertwined and help us to preserve organic life and the enveloping ecosystems. Earth itself begins with adventure within the conscious self-awareness and this helps us to be better people and create a better world.
Journey of the Universe Chapter 9- Becoming a Planetary Presence
Every place we travel in this universe we become and it is our home we make it a special place this is because of our symbolic consciousness. The human species tries to match other species with themselves and be comfortable. The legal and ethical codes were created to stop chaos and try to maintain peace. These codes are the patterns we use to organize and perfect our society and civilization. One of the most fascinating patterns of our conscious is being able to transform our ideas into symbolic knowledge into machines. Modern humans have many valuable resources and are controlled by technology and dreams of progress. Humans hope wish and believe we are creating a prosperous world but the very thing that helps us can also lead to our destruction.
Journey of the Universe Chapter 8- The Origin of the Human
This chapter revolves around human beings and what created us and how we came to be on this earth.  It shows evidence through fossils and genetic about the human species and we can follow this all the way to the beginning of time. Human flexibility gives scientist biological evidence to tell the story of what our species has done and discovered. Contemporary biologist give examples ideas and stories of what our species did before they found true civilization. Human behavioral freedom and curiosity give us a good conscious. The greatest invention humans created is the symbolic language that helps us share our thoughts and ideas. Our culture and DNA shape who we are as humans and how we act towards one another. Our consciousness is what has helped us survive and progress throughout the years and it will continue to help us succeed in the present and future.
Reflection on video of Pope Francis at Congress-Ex Credit
I watched the video of Pope Francis at congress trying to urge the US to embrace immigrants and become impassioned. It gave me a huge insight of the reality of where America is as a country and how we image ourselves. I completely agree with Pope Francis we must be open and diverse and embrace every person. We should treat others the way we want to be treated and give them the upmost respect. As well as appreciate and learn from our differences and become one with each other so we can truly gain peace. Pope Francis also explained that we need to love one another and support each other as well as try not make things a competition i found this to be a great point. I learned from this video to embrace life and make the best of it, to get along with anyone i meet and completely accept the way they are and their background. Overall to sum it up I agree with all of Pope Francis's ideas, and suggestions, and I believe our country should listen and work on these ideas together to make a greater and better United States of America!
Journey of our Universe Chapter 7- The Passion of Animals
Passion is our urge to merge, it makes our souls more intimate, and gives us passions which help determine our lives. All animals live within their passions and everyday put them to good use.  The animals also hold a big part in our universe and we must appreciate the different aspects of each animal. The world is filled with tons of decisions that we must make everyday and everyone wants to be special in their own way no one should be rejected. Parental care is when parents worry about their offspring and their well-being the parents only want the best for them. The difference between animals and humans in one way is remembering and spreading compassion as well as involving history within our lives.
Journey of our Universe Chapter 6- Living and Dying
Life's complexity deepening is possible because life is able to adapt to many different conditions. The sequence of nucleotides and genes hold the patterns of our life as human beings.  The grains we eat transform to proteins, this process is scientifically known as the Cytochrome. The energy of our lives comes from the original flaring forth of the universe and our atoms can be the stars.  We can appreciate the changing of the universe by realizing our sensing process helps the universe too.  Emergence of various senses asks us to touch, see,  and taste the things around us. There is a possibility that our smaller self dies into the larger self of the universe and all of our passions, dreams, anguish, and loss helps create and make the universe.
Journey of the Universe Chapter 5- Life Emergence
Nature is a big part of how we are can live on earth and the cells in nature help us to be nourished. Cells began very small and then gained a nuclei this helped nature with algae in the oceans and lizards in streams. We find that the planet is very remarkable and we need to respect it as well as ourselves. There are many theories on how the earth gained life some say it began with bacteria but no one can truly have a right answer. There are also many complex swirls of energy that we have to explain physical laws. Photosynthesis is also a big part of the world and nature it helps engineer nature to provide us with necessities of life. Cells help us adapt and become one with the atmosphere. Overall it is a dynamic reorganization that helps us adapt to the nature and the world itself.
Journey of the Universe Chapter 4- Birth of the Solar System
This chapter emphasizes how the solar system came to be through many supernova explosions. It teaches us how the elements effected the way the solar system was created and changed throughout the years. The solar system is a very important because it is meant to be a beautiful miracle and helped us advance scientifically. The universe has a self-assembling power that helps us to live here on earth. There are of course many different creation stories and myths that the people before us had about the solar system, they believed the planets were persons and the stars were the kin and the sun was a god. Of course once we became more knowledgeable of the planets we learned their true purpose in the solar system. We also learn about geology and plate tectonics which was equivalent to Charles Darwin's theory of natural selection. The moon is the mystery of the night and attracts energy. Lastly after many years of the solar system being the around and it controlling temperature it is barley beginning to stabilize and fully protect us from harm.

Journey of the Universe Chapter 3 - The Emanating Brilliance of Stars
The stars fascinate us in every way because the are giant balls of gas, but from so far away they are beautiful and gives hopes and dreams for the best tomorrow. Their radiance comes from a unique force of gravity that attracts the stars and its mass. The stars do not only shine but resonate this means they produce light and have a big job. Some people believed that our bodies were formed by the same elements in the stars. We find the exploding star to be one of the most creative in history and the way the energy is disbursed is a breathtaking experience. The supernova is an amazing design of the destruction and creation of the earth. Life is not possible without stars and their vast mysterious transformations that help give us the elements we need to survive.
Journey of the Universe Chapter 2 - Galaxies Forming
As the title would suggest this chapter is about galaxies within the universe and learning their origin and vastness. It is said that these galaxies have an effect on our climate and natural beauty in the earth. They also mention "the music of the Spheres" with deals with the galaxies sounds and vibrations. There is always a deep longing in humans to know the heart of the universe and how it truly works. Later we discovered that there is not just one center but millions and that it has many aspects. We live in the center of creativity it is our universe and we should appreciate and take care of it. A galaxy that is a direct satellite to the Milky Way is LCM or the Large Magellanic Cloud this began the process of creating stars in the sky.
Journey of the Universe Chapter 1- Beginning of the Universe
In this chapter we learn about the beauty of the earth and all the nature and amazing aspects and phenomena it has to offer. It also talks about our advanced scientific generation and how vast it seems to be. It also talks about the constellations and galaxy as well as the form of human beings on earth.  As human beings it digs a little deeper into our culture and values that are passed down based on our backgrounds. Everyone has a different idea and image in how they believe the world was created and almost every person will answer that question differently. It also speaks of the mathematical and scientific forms of the world and different theories. Overall it talks about our journey through the ages and our advancements and a species.

Food Justice is having a choice to eat anything you want for example you may choose to either eat healthy or eat junk food. It is simply having the necessary products to choose and make your own food.  Justice, therefore, means the right to pick the ingredients that goes into your food and creating whatever food you please. The people in the poorer or third world countries are sometimes deprived of this human right. Many times they are left in the street to starve and they are the main people that food justice is necessary for, though food justice belongs to all people. Overall food justice means everyone in the world should have the equal chance and opportunity to eat a good meal everyday at any point of time in their lives.
